Freshwater Fishing in North East Tasmania

Fishers catch brown trout in nearly every river and stream in the region and in a number of lakes, too. In addition, you will find rainbow trout in the rivers of North East Tasmania -including the Ringarooma. Actually, this is something of a rarity in Tasmania!

The State Fisheries Department regularly stocks lakes with both brown and rainbow trout, including Blackmans Lagoon, Little Waterhouse Lake and Big Waterhouse Lake. However, the most popular and productive of these waters with fishers is Blackmans Lagoon. Here fishers regularly catch large brown trout.
