Tasmania 7261 Australia

Central to North East Tasmania

Tin Dragon Cottages in the centre of North East Tasmania is a 90 minute drive to the Launceston airport, 15 minutes to Scottsdale and 60 minutes to St Helens on the East Tasmania coast.

The Blue Derby Mountain bike park is only 8km away.

It is a short drive to the wine regions of Piper’s Brook and the Tamar valley; the fabulous coastlines of the North and East coasts—including Bridport, Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires; the Musselroe Wind Farm; Mount William National Park; Barnbougle Dunes golf course—and the beautiful local golf courses of Ringarooma and Moorina; breath-taking mountain vistas, waterfalls and wild myrtle forests of the Blue Tiers and Mount Victoria.

The Tin Dragon Cottages 36 acre private estate is on the banks of the Ringarooma River within the town of Branxholm.

About Us

We are recent tree-changers, passionate about North East Tasmania. We have jumped feet-first into tourism. You, our wonderful guests, are helping us to feel our way. What an adventure! Made a few mistakes, encountered some ugly resistance, but still having fun. Why don’t you join us?

Thoughtful Hospitality

As you can imagine there are many decisions to be made when you are creating new tourist accommodation. Like most people we have had our own experiences of getting away. For us our most memorable weekend getaways wouldn‘t have featured in flash travel magazines or TV travel shows, or received celebrity endorsement; but the owners displayed what we term ‘thoughtful hospitality’ and this made our stay a delight. So as well as incorporating sustainable design we have put ourselves in your shoes, thought about what would make your stay convenient and comfortable, and designed this into the cottages too. This is not an ‘untouched-by-human-hands’ resort. Did you notice? From the comments in our guest books and on-line reviews I know some of you have. If you haven’t stayed with us yet, we hope you will soon!

Tin Mining Heritage Project

With funding from the Tasmanian Tourism Promotion Plan in 2008 Christine and Graham designed a trail to celebrate the Chinese tin mining heritage on their property. So this blog describes how Henry’s story was brought back to life. Christine and Graham purchased their property in Branxholm in 2001. They chose this property because they wished […]
